UPDATE: Fallen Conductor to Blame for Friday Morning Power Outage

A fallen conductor is to blame for a large power outage in southern Schuylkill County Friday morning.

According to Carol Obando-Derstine, Regional Affairs Director, PPL Electric Utilities, the outage in Schuylkill County started at 7:04 am Friday morning when a 69kV line tripped to lockout affecting approximately 12,500 customers. All customers were restored as of 08:30 am.

Our crews found that a conductor came down.

At this time of the update, PPL did not know the cause of the downed conductor but were investigating. Crews and equipment were on site and in the process of making repairs.

Outages were reported in Cressona, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill Haven, West Brunswick Township, St. Clair, North Manheim Township, Wayne Township, and parts of Pottsville.
