Bruce R. Mervine, 91, of Gordon, PA passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, PA.

Born May, 26, 1927 in Gordon the son of the late Guy and Myrtle (Miller) Mervine.
Bruce was a U.S. Marine Corp. and Army Veteran serving from 1945-1955. He received a National Defense Service Metal and participated in the occupation of China. After his honorable discharge from the military, he lived in California and Utah. Eventually, he returned to his birthplace where he remained for the rest of his life. He worked for Mr. Hanger, Ringtown until retirement. Bruce loved to travel, play cards, attend bingo and high school plays, family reunions, and genealogy/researching his ancestry. Bruce was a member of various historical societies; Gordon Senior Citizens, Frackville Senior Citizens, and Gordon AmVets. He volunteered with many activities at ARMC and the Food bank. He served on the Gordon School Reunion Committee and Centennial Committee. He was an active member of the Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon where he was the sexton, a greeter, on many committees, and helped decorating.

Bruce was preceded in death by brothers: Earl Hubler, Claude Hubler, Raymond Hubler, Paul
Mervine, Frank Mervine, Robert Mervine, and Guy Mervine. Three sisters: Mae Derrickson, Adda Balchin, and Hazel Hubler.

Surviving are a brother: Glen husband of Betty Mervine. Sister-in-law: Geraldine Mervine. Nieces: Sandra wife of Norman Stitzer and Francesca wife of Scott Hutchinson. Great niece: Valerie wife of George Dornsife. Great nephew and Godson: John R . Stitzer husband of Jacqueline Car. Great nephews: Glen Stitzer and Beau Hutchinson. Four great great nieces and other close friends and relatives.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon, PA. Interment at Barry Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Weishample, PA. Visitation 11:00 AM until the time of service on Monday, Apr. 22 at the church.

Shirley A Shadle, age 83, of Hegins, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.

She was born on Sunday, June 9, 1935, in Joliett, a daughter of the late George Ney and the late Annie Brower Ney.

Shirley was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the former Weishample Church of God.

Her husband, Harvey Shadle passed away in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, Junior Ney and Harold Ney; and four sisters, Ruth Rhody, Thelma Steele, Doris Ney, and Elaine Ney.

She is survived by five daughters, Gayle A Fetrow of Fountain, Carol Smith of Ashland, Wanda Scheib of Valley View, Thelma Klinger of Hegins, and Dorothy Shadle of Elizabethville; three brothers, Robert Ney of Pine Grove, Gerald Ney of Gordon, and Raymond Ney of Pine Grove; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 10:00 am, with William Fetrow officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service.

Private burial will be made at the convenience of the family in Church of God Cemetery, Weishample.

Helene A. Clouser, 97, of Waxahachie, TX and formerly of Hometown, PA, died on March 1, 2019 in Texas.

She was the wife of the late Leonard Clouser who died in October 1979. A son, Jacques Clouser, also predeceased her in December 2011.

Born in Nancy, France on June 15, 1921, Helene was a daughter of the late Eugene and Marie (nee Corraza) Schindler. She received her education in France and came to the United States in 1947. Helene was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, PA prior to moving to Texas. She was also a member of the Tamaqua Senior Citizens, the Ryan Township Senior Citizens, and the Hometown Fire Company Auxiliary. Prior to retiring, Helene was employed by Purling Mills in Tamaqua.

She is survived by daughter, Denise White of Waxahachie, TX; sons, Ralph Clouser of Ottumwa, IA and Albert Clouser of Pottsville, PA; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and her surviving family in France.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 20 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Phyllis Wolford officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown to follow. Call 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
