Schuylkill Haven Student Eliminated in 3rd Round of National Spelling Bee

A 7th grader from Schuylkill Haven area misspelled in the 3rd Round of the National Spelling Bee.


The Scripps National Spelling Bee is currently taking place in National Harbor, Maryland with 592 spellers from 50 States and seven countries competing to winner the title of Top Speller.

Heidi Bauer, 13, of Schuylkill Haven, who is sponsored by the Republican Herald successful made it to the competition by successfully spelling imperturbable at the local competition.

Bauer through the 2nd round of the national competition by spelling the word "jocundity".

It was the third round that proved tough and Bauer was eliminated by misspelling the word "antechamber".
