Four Police Departments Receive Life Saving Equipment Through Donation from American Legion

​On Friday, June 21, 2019, four Schuylkill County Police Departments received a donation of life saving equipment.


Thanks to the generosity of the Tamaqua American Legion, Post 173, sixteen Popshield ballistic shields were provided to officers of four area police departments.

Those departments included Tamaqua Police, Rush Township Police, Ryan Township Police, and West Penn Township Police.

Tamaqua Mayor Nathan Grace said "The fact that we have such an amazing organization like the American Legion who thinks about our police department and makes such a generous donation means a lot and speaks to the strong relationship our small community has with each other".

Rush Township Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky said "We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with the Tamaqua American Legion to make a safer community."
