Nicholas Jacob Winter, 26, passed away too soon, June 29, 2019. He is the son of Lisa Ann Winter and the late Nicholas Winter of Auburn. He is survived by three sisters, Lisa M. Winter, Nicole Buglino married to Nicholas, Jennifer Muldowney, married to Shea. He is survived by his beloved nieces, Kaylee and Kara Buglino and nephews, Gabriel, Nolan and Connor Muldowney, grandparents Irene Hart and Al Hart, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He was a God father to Nolan Muldowney. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Joseph and Marie Thomas and paternal grandfather Joseph H. Winter, Uncle Joseph Winter, and cousin Andrew Svrcek.

Nicholas was Valedictorian at Nativity B.V.M. High School graduating class of 2011 and was in the National Honor Society. He enjoyed Theatre, choir and mock trials. He attended Villanova University majoring in Electrical Engineering making Deans List and was a CO OP at PJM in Norristown. He obtained an AA degree in Liberal Arts from the Pennsylvania State University. Nicholas received the President’s Education Awards Program for Outstanding Academic Achievement from President Bush in 2003.

He enjoyed playing guitar, helping his family maintain the forest reserve and built computers in his spare time. He enjoyed his late night talks about anime with his sister Lisa, going out to eat with his sister Nicole,playing video games with his sister Jennifer, long talks with his brother in laws Shea and Nick and playing with his nieces and nephews.He loved being with his pets, Eva, Angel, and late Zaki. He was an avid video game player with his best friends Jimmy O’Neill, Kevin Killian and Paul Luke Domalakes.

Nicholas was a member of St. Ambrose Church and attended mass and adoration every week with his beloved mom.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 201 Randel St. Schuylkill Haven, on July 8 at 11AM. A viewing will be held from 9AM-10:45AM.

Nicholas Winter Sr. Age 56, passed away June 29, 2019.He is the son of Irene Liptok Hart her husband Albert Hart, and the late Joseph Winter.He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa Thomas Winter of 38 years. He was the loving father of four children: Lisa Marie Winter, Nicole Winter Buglino married to Nicholas Buglino, Jennifer Winter Muldowney married to Shea Muldowney and his late son Nicholas Jacob Winter.He has 5 beautiful grandchildren, Kaylee and Kara Buglino, Gabriel, Nolan, and Connor Muldowney.He is survived by his two sisters and brother, brother in laws and sister in laws, cousins and nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death with brother Joseph Winter and nephew Andrew Svrcek.

Nicholas graduated from Nativity BVM Highschool in 1981. He served his country in the US Navy from 1981-1985 Electronic Warfare. He graduated from Penn State with an AAS degree in Electrical Engineering and BA degree with Magna Cum Laude in Business Management. Nicholas was currently employed by PJM in Norristown for 24 years as a Power System Supervisor of dispatching. He was previously employed at GPU in Power System Operation for 9 years and an Atlantic Electric Power System Supervisor for 6 years.

Nicholas was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Ambrose Parish in Schuylkill Haven. He attended adoration with his wife at St. Patrick’s Church in Pottsville. He was an avid Eagles fan, manager of his forest reserve and woods man.His favorite places were being in the reserve with his wife, swimming in his pool, traveling to Hawaii and Disney World. Being with is children and grandchildren at the beach.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, on July 8, at 11 AM. A viewing will be held from 9am-10:45am.

William D. Zaremba, 79, of Ringtown, passed away Monday, July 1st, 2019 at his residence.

William was born in Ringtown, on November 14, 1939, a son of the late Rose (Bielawski) and Charles Zaremba.

He was a 1957 graduate of the former Mahanoy Township High School, then served in the U.S. Army in the engineer corps overseas in Germany.

He worked on the railroad for 39 years, being hired by the Reading railroad, working for Conrail and then retiring from Norfolk Southern. He worked as a freight brakeman and conductor along the northeast corridor, and loved his job.

He loved working on the family farm on which he was born and lived, where he raised steers for many years and then later two horses.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Adele (Powell) Zaremba, and by three sons:
William Zaremba; Christopher Zaremba and his wife Denise; and Daniel Zaremba, all of Ringtown.

A sister Celeste Johnson, and 3 granddaughters, Emily, Samantha and Allison, also survive as do nephews Bruce Johnson and Bryan Lutz and a niece Irene Lipsky.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with William's family from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, July 5th 2019 at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, North Center Street, Ringtown at 11 AM on Saturday, July 6th, and everyone is asked to meet at the church. William will be laid to rest at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville during private family services.

Harry Karl Snyder, 89 years of age of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania died on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Gardens for Memory Care in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Born Wednesday, June 4, 1930 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late Harold, and Daisy (King) Snyder. He was also predeceased by; wife, Joan Dolores (Schlosser) Snyder; brother, Robert Snyder, James Wasson, Jr.; step father, James W. Wasson, Sr..

Surviving are daughters, Suzanne T. Blanchard of Gatesville, TX and Kim S. Kropp of Tamaqua, PA; grand children, Christina, Carl and David; 3 great grand children.

A graduate of Tamaqua high School, Harry served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua,and Tamaqua Legion. A talented artist, Harry painted Indian scenery and was well versed in cowboy culture, often painting famous stars from old cowboy movies. He was a collector of local memorabilia and enjoyed carving.

Gwen L Wetzel, age 67, of Sunbury, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill.

She was born on Sunday, February 17, 1952, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Leo F Hatter and the late Verna M Schmeltz Hatter.

She attended Tri-Valley High School and received her nursing certification from Geisinger School of Nursing, Danville.

Gwen worked for 20 years at the Tri- Valley Pharmacy, she then entered nursing school and received her RN. She was a RN at the former Susquehanna Lutheran Village.

She was a member of the Herndon Senior Center.

Gwen enjoyed needlepoint and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother, Ronald R Hatter.

She is survived by her husband Thomas M Wetzel.

She is also survived by two daughters, Daphne L Webberson of Virginia, and Missy A Carado-Hook and her husband Derron of Spring Glen; four grandchildren, Stephen Webberson, Emily Webberson, Dominick Carado, and Alissa Nester; a brother, Daniel L Hatter of Camp Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

Deborah L. Whipple Gilbert, 60, Girardville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday at her residence.

Born in the former Ashland Hospital, she was a daughter of Emma Spiece Whipple and the late Emlem Whipple.

She lived for many years in Key West, FL as a manager for a boating company. She was an independent jewelry maker and also worked in the construction field. She was a volunteer for Wings Program in Chicago serving victims of domestic violence. She loved animals and rescued many rabbits through the House Rabbit Society and the SPCA.

She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a brother Mark D. Whipple.

Debbie is survived by her mother, her brother, Emlen Whipple, two sisters; Susan McMahan and Nancy Whipple, all of Girardville also by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, with Rev. Robert Smith, officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
