Madeline “Madge” Kerrigan, Pottsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening at her residence.

Funeral services will be announced by the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville.

Edward J. "Duke" Young, 75, Seltzer, died Wednesday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospice , Allentown.

Born March 3, 1944 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Ella (Gombola) Young.

Duke was a member of the Seltzer Hose Co. and the Seltzer Gun Club. He was also an avid golfer. He was a roller operator retiring from Tropp Contracting and the Highway Department of PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Shappell.

He is survived by a sister Eleanor Fleming, Pottsville and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services and interment will be held on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

Hilda Hughes, 101, of Ringtown, passed away on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Douglassville, where she was currently residing.

Hilda was born in Kingston, on November 2, 1917, a daughter of the late Ella and John Stevenson.

Hilda was retired, having been employed in the local garment industry. She was a member of St.John's Lutheran Church and the Ringtown Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed sewing and crocheting along with baking and cooking.

Hilda was a former member of the Ringtown Library board of directors, the former Ringtown Lioness Club and the former Ringtown Area Activities Organization, and the Ringtown Christmas Lighting Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald and by a son, Bernard Hughes and a daughter, Henrietta Gallup.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle, wife of Alan Ross, of Douglassville.

She is also survived by grandchildren James Gallup, Linda Gallup Lauer, Kevin Hughes, Kyle Ross and Kelsey Ross; great granddaughters, Katie Bachman and Jennifer Yencho and a great great granddaughter Karleigh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 25th at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, with Pastor Jay Serafin officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. HIlda will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Ringtown following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ringtown Library.

Senior Master Sergeant James Eick, USAF (Ret), 83, of Kelayres, and formerly of Hometown, passed away Saturday at his home.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late George and Julia (Yankovich) Eick.

He was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo.

James was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He served 21 years in the U.S. Air force, earning the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was an enlisted member of the U.S. Air Force staff serving in the Pentagon, Washington D.C.

Prior to retiring, he was the proprietor of Montgomery Ward Catalog Store of Tamaqua.

James was a member of Elks Lodge #592 of Tamaqua and the Tamaqua Rotary Club.

Preceding him in death, were his wife Rose Marie (Doncevic) Eick; brothers John, George, and Michael Eick; and sisters Ann Goetisheim and Margaret Eick.

Surviving, are sons James A. Eick of Andreas; and George Eick of Kelayres; brother Andrew Eick of Frackville; and nieces and nephews also survive.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Sts., McAdoo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
