John W. Humpf, 76, of Walnut Street, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 peacefully at home.
He was born in Ashland, April 3,1943, a son of the late Leo and Ann (Dunn) Humpf.
He graduated in 1961 from Immaculate Heart Academy, Fountain Springs, and worked for 44 years at Standard Press Steel, Jenkintown until his retirement in 2006. He was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland.
John served in Vietnam with the United States Army. John was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Nascar fan. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and neighbors and taking rides in his truck. He is survived by a niece, nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Greg and Leonard.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held from St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1116 Walnut St., 
Ashland,PA on Friday August 16,2019 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Miller officiating. Interment in St.
Joseph’s Cemetery, Ft. Springs, PA immediately following.

Francis C. "Slim" Eckert, age 73, of Palo Alto, PA passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2019 at his home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on October 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Kozlov) Eckert.

Slim was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1963. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Slim worked for Christy Joy's Catering in Pottsville for 53 years until retiring in 2015.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and dart and pinochle card player. Slim was an active member of the Mechanicsville Game and Fish and both the Citizen's Fire Company and the East End Fire Company in Palo Alto.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Joyce "Patsy" Alton and a brother George Eckert.

Slim is survived by a son David Eckert and his wife Heidi and their son Sage Eckert, all of Pottsville; Bonnie Eckert, Pottsville; a brother John Eckert, Auburn; his extended family Butch and Joan Fredericks and their children and grandchildren and friend Bill Somers; and nieces and nephews.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 7:30PM on Tuesday, August 13th, with Pastor Kenton Martin officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:30PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Slim's memory to the Mechanicsville Game and Fish Association, 925 First Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.

W. Frances Houser, 84, formerly of New Ringgold, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua, PA.

Frances was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on January 16, 1935, to the late Alexander and Claire (Hamilton) Tobin. She married her late husband, Stephen H. Houser, Jr., in 1957. Although she worked for the government many years ago as a stenographer, she was best known for her devotion to family and friends. Frances loved playing card games with anyone who would learn, writing letters to loved ones at a distance, and cooking delicious meals for all who entered her home. She had a love of music, laughter, and especially reveled in being a “Nana.” 

Surviving her are her children Stephen H. (Joan) Houser III of West Virginia, Colin A. Houser of New Ringgold, Francine (Brian) Clouser of Barnesville, PA and Philip (Jill) Houser of Hazleton, PA; 10 grandchildren, Colin T., Jessica, Cody, Chase, Caleb, Camron, Ariana, Carly, Cayden, and Alessandra; and a great-grandson Samuel, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Alex, Hughie, Vince, Thomas, and Charles, and a sister Mary (Tobin) Yanchus. 

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 20, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow services. Call Monday, August 19, 6-8 PM and Tuesday, August 20, 10-11 AM at the funeral home.

Mildred A. Ditzler, 92, formerly of Patterson Apartments, Pottsville, died Saturday at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing, Schuylkill Haven.

She was born December 18, 1926 in Palo Alto a daughter of the late Del and Helen Pfeiffer Nerz.

She was a 1944 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School.

Mildred was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and the Catholic Women's Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Ditzler, on Feb 21, 1979. Surviving are cousins and caregiver, Jean Marie Thomas, Palo Alto.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. There will be no viewing. The family would prefer remembrances in the form on contributions made to St. John Memorial Fund 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville PA, 17901. Interment will be in St. John No. 2 Cemetery. Pottsville. Arrangements are under the care of James B. Humphrey, F.D., James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Russell F. Olt, 95, of Tremont Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at home.
Born on August 28, 1923 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Famon E. and Martha E. Mease Olt.
He was an Army Veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of Co M 475th Inf Reg and received the Purple Heart.
Russell was a miner, worked at Penn Dye in Pine Grove and worked in maintenance at Indiantown Gap.
He was a life member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432 and the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374.
Preceding him in death were a son Richard Olt, Sr.; two sisters, Betty Graby and Violet Keefer; a brother Lloyd Olt.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Mary K. Zimmerman Olt; three sons, Russell Olt, Michael Olt, and Jeffrey Olt, all of Pine Grove; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchild; a brother, Howard Olt of New Jersey.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Jacob's Lutheran Church, 316 Suedberg Rd., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.
