Two Homes Damaged by Fire in Mount Carmel Tuesday Morning

Two homes were severely damaged Tuesday morning by fire in Mount Carmel.

Around 6:15am, emergency personnel were dispatched to 434 North Walnut Street, Mount Carmel for a working house fire.

A column of smoke could be seen from around the borough as crews responded.

Northumberland County units as well as Ashland, Girardville, and Mahanoy City responded to the scene to aid in fighting the fire as well as backup for the borough.

As 7:00am, the fire was under control with units being released from the scene by 8:00am.

The fire severely damaged the home at 434 as well as a home next to it.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
