Christopher M. Kuhns, 40 of New Ringgold and Tamaqua, Pennsylvania died suddenly on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Born Monday, November 27, 1978 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Kenneth Kuhns and Barbara Nunemacher Kuhns. He was predeceased by brother, Keith Allen Kuhns in 2013 and sister, Kimberly Kuhns in 1970.

A graduate of Parkland High School, Chris was employed as a forklift operator at Reynolds Packaging in Hazleton. An avid outdoorsman, Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery.

Surviving are his companion Jessica Hardy; brothers, Kenneth R. Kuhns and his wife, Danielle and Matthew Kuhns and his wife, Alison; nieces, nephews and a great niece. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive Chris.

Mildred “Millie” H. Gulla, RN, 94, of Coaldale, PA died at home on Thursday, September 12, 2019. She was the wife of the late August M. Gulla to whom she was married 61 years at the time of his death in 2014. Born in Hauto, PA on May 23, 1925, Melania, her baptized name, was a daughter of the late John and Rose (nee Posypanko) Holoviak. The valedictorian of the 1943 graduating class of the former Nesquehoning High School, she furthered her education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing where she served in the Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII. Mille earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bloomsburg University. She worked as an RN at the former Hamburg State Hospital and was an adjunct instructor for the practical nursing program at the Carbon County Vocational Technical School. Millie went on to graduate from the Northampton County Community College funeral service program and upon receipt of her funeral director’s license she worked with her husband at their funeral home in Coaldale. Currently a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII in Tamaqua, she was baptized in St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale and was a member of the former Saints Cyril & Methodius Church in Coaldale where she faithfully sang in the choir until the church closed in 2008. Millie was a member of the Panther Valley Women’s Club for which she served as treasurer for many years and a former board member of the Tamaqua Public Library. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peggy, Steve, John, The Rev. Paul, and Daniel. Surviving her are 21 nephews and nieces who remember her saying, “Keep smiling so I can smile forever.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, September 16, 2019 in St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Saints Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Nesquehoning will follow the mass. Call 6-9 PM on Sunday, September 15 and 8:30–9:30 AM on Monday, September 16 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Parastas with The Very Rev. James P. Weremedic officiating will be held at 7 PM on Sunday during the evening calling hours. Memorials in Mildred’s name may be made to a Church of Choice or a Charity of choice. Ivan N. High, Sr., 83, of Covered Bridge Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill East.

Born on July 31, 1936 in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Elmer Z. and Mary Nolt High.
He was a member of the Roedersville Mennonite Church, Pine Grove.

Ivan was a carpenter and worked for Lee Bashore Construction.

Preceding him in death were his wife Arlene Sensenig High; daughter, Joyce High; grandson, Joshua High; great grandson, Cayden High; five brothers, Melvin, Aaron, Edwin, Elmer and John High; three sisters, Mary Hoover, Emmaline Reiff and Ada Long.

Surviving are five sons, Ivan Jr.and wife Rose High of Pine Grove, Robert and wife Ann High of Chambersburg, Bryan and wife Kathy High of Elkton, VA, Gregory and wife Sarah High of Elizabethville, Jeffrey High and companion Cami of Lititz; daughter Linda and husband Jose Negron of Brownstown; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; four sisters, Lydia Sensenig, Esther Nolt, Vera Zimmerman and Laura Martin.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Pine Grove Community Church, 85 Pleasant Valley Rd., Pine Grove with Pastor Daryl Martin officiating. There will be a viewing on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M and Monday, September 16, 2019 from 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in Roedersville Mennonite Cemetery, Pine Grove.
