Homes Evacuated in Pottsville After Gas Leak

A gas leak has forced the evacuation of homes in Pottsville Monday morning.

On Monday morning, construction crews reportedly hit a gas line in the area of the 2000 block of West Market Street.

Firefighters were called to scene to create a perimeter and to evacuate homes that were within 300 feet of the leak, only as a precaution, according to officials at the scene.

As of 10:00am, West Market Street was still closed and traffic was being detoured in the area.

No word when residents in the area will be able to return to their homes.

More information when it's available.
