Victim Identified in Fatal Fire Overnight in Pottsville

The victim of a fatal fire in Pottsville overnight has been identified.


According to the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office, Lorrie Botella, 42, died at the hospital from injuries she suffered in a fire at 1971 Howard Avenue, Pottsville.

Botella was rescued from the second floor of the home by Pottsville firefighters.  Firefighters also rescued a dog, attempted CPR, but the dog was unable to be resuscitated.

Around midnight, emergency personnel were called to a house fire at 1971 West Howard Avenue, Pottsville.

As the first crews arrived, they found heavy fire in the front of the home and learned that Botella was trapped on second floor.

Crews were able to rescue, Botella but she later died from her injuries at the hospital.

A second alarm was dispatched bringing additional units into the city to be on stand by.

Crews were at the scene all night with some still at the scene through this morning.

The American Red Cross is assisting 7 after the fire.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is expected to be at the scene Friday to investigate a cause.
