Joseph Ambrose Biasi, 84, of Seek Section of Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Wednesday, January 9, 1935 in Hazleton, the son of the late Joseph August and Elizabeth Mary (Lusch) Biasi. He was also predeceased by his sister, Catherine Davidson.

Surviving are; his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Jacqueline L. (Jones) Biasi; sons, Joseph J. Biasi and his wife Erla of New Ringgold, David J. Biasi and Betsy Steffy of Tuscarora; daughter, Betsy Weaver and her husband Kevin of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Joe and his wife Mary K, Aimee and her husband Matt,Celena, Kyle, Matthew; great grandchildren, Joey, Rocco, Phillip, and Jaclyn.

Joe was a 1953 graduate of Coaldale High School, and owned and operated Biasi Beer Distributors of Coaldale from 1963 to 1981. Joe, retired from the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills having worked in the Bleach & Dye Room. Joe enjoyed long walks and was the family dog walker.

Mary Elizabeth Sorlete (nee Sciarrone), of Tower City, passed away December 31st at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown. She was born May 4th, 1926, in Pottsville to the late Rocco and Guiseppina Sciarrone. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters: The Most Reverend Rosario F. Sciarrone, Domenica Guth, Anna Barbetti, Joseph Sciarrone, and Helen Sciarrone. Surviving is her most beloved sister, J. Louise Sciarrone, Drexel Hill.

Mary was a 1944 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. She then attended Women's Homeopathic Hospital's nursing program in Philadelphia and was a member of the US Cadet Nurse Corps, serving through WWII until her graduation from nursing school in 1948. Mary worked as an Operating Room Specialist at St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia following her service in the Corps.

She then married, moved to New York and had four children. In 1989, Mary retired from nursing from Flushing Hospital, Queens, and returned to Pennsylvania.

Mary is also survived by her four children: Maria Keith, Philadelphia; Rafael Lopez (Tawny), Maryland; Robert Sciarrone, Mount Pocono; and Josephine Roma (Samuel), Tower City, who also cared for her at home, and the three family dogs, Jake, Charlie (her particular favorite), and Molly, who provided many hours of love, comfort, and entertainment during Mary's final year. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was deeply loved by all and will be missed by all who knew her...even briefly.

Barbara S. Cuff, 63, of Frackville, Pa passed away on Monday, December 30th at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center – Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah on September 27th, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Albert Sr. and Alberta “Boxter” Anastosky.

She was a 1974 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School then worked in the local garment industry. Barbara enjoyed the outdoors, had a love for animals, and liked to go fishing. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Erin Weyman – Frackville, 1 brother, Albert J. Anastosky Jr. – Shenandoah, 1 sister, Ellen Thompson with Mark – Montrose, Pa, 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Conner Weyman, a niece, Jolene with Chris and a nephew, Joey, 2 great nephews, Zack and Cayden, and her companion, Jim Zulkowski.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 10:30am in the Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian.
