Daniel Joel Eisenhauer, 78, of North Manheim Township, PA, passed away Thursday, January 9th, at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident.

Born in Pottsville, PA on May 27, 1941, he was a son of the late Daniel C. & Evelyn (Baldwin)Eisenhauer.

He was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, and was formerly employed in construction.

Daniel served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He was a member of the Orwigsburg American Legion, and served on the Orwigsburg VFW honor guard.

Daniel was an avid hunter; and had coached Orwigsburg Little League for over 30 years.

He is survived by his son, Steven B. Eisenhauer, Sr. & wife, Renee, grandson, Steven B. Eisenhauer, Jr. & wife, Alyssa, three siblings: Treasure King, Gretchen Moore, & Jane Shaqfeh, and seven nieces & nephews.

A committal service with military honors will be conducted Tuesday, January 14th at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA, at 12:30 p.m.

Jean A. Kovach, 94, of Orwigsburg, passed away, Wednesday, January 8th, at St. Anne's Retirement Community, Lancaster County.

Jean was born in Orwigsburg, on July 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Helen (Bensinger) and George L. Shoener.

She was the widow of Steve G. Kovach. She was predeceased by her first husband Raymond Donald Fahringer on January 5th, 1965.

Jean was a very active member of Salem United Methodist Church Orwigsburg. She was an Orwigsburg High School Graduate, class of 1944

Jean worked in the Cafeteria at Blue Mountain Elementary School, in addition to being a homemaker.

She was a very hard worker and enjoyed playing cards with her lifelong friends from Orwigsburg.

Jean is survived by her son, Craig Fahringer, of Bixby, OK; Grandchildren Cale Fahringer, Dallas, TX, Ryan Fahringer, Sherman Oaks, CA and Margo Fahringer, Bixby, OK.

Jean is also survived by her sister, Eleanor “Icky" Sandherr, widow of Galen; sister-in-law Martha Shoener. Nieces Carol Chismar, wife of Paul; Patrice Shoener and Jody Sandherr.

Jean is preceded in death by her sisters Mildred Deibert, Margaret LeVan, Brother George "Gum" Shoener and an infant sister.

A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18th at Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg, with Pastor Steward Warner officiating. Public Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM in the church. Interment at Kimmels Cemetery Orwigsburg.

Gladys E Maurer, age 91, of Hegins, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at Genesis Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

She was born on Tuesday, January 8, 1929, in Barry Twp, a daughter of the late Stanley Yoder and the late Mary Moser Yoder.

Gladys was a seamstress in area factories, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample.

She was also a former member of the Hegins Fire Company Auxiliary and the Tri- Valley Senior Citizens.

Gladys enjoyed word puzzles and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Ralph H Maurer, passed away in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by two sisters, Marie Hamburg and Grace Huntzinger, by a brother, Charles Yoder and an infant brother.

She is survived by a son, Garry R Maurer and his wife Peggy of Lebanon; a daughter, Susan M Johns and her husband John of Hegins; a granddaughter, Michelle L Smeltz and her husband Mark of New Tripoli; two grandsons, Jeffrey C Maurer of Manheim and Kenneth R Maurer and his wife Jenn of Lebanon; five great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 11:00 am, with Rev. W. Keith Rockwell officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service.

Burial will be made in Salem Cemetery, Weishample.

Dale D. Austerberry, Jr., 43 of Minersville, died Wednesday at home.

He was born October 5, 1976 a son of Dale D. Austerberry, Sr., Schuylkill Haven and the late Debra Mason Shoener.

He was employed by Kane Flooring.

Surviving in addition to his father are 2 daughters, Kalea and Dayla Austerberry; siblings Brad Ross, Allen Buehner, Danbrielle and Samantha Shoener Matthew Austerberry;his maternal grandfather, William Mason; his fiancé Stacey Dockins and her daughter Naomi; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Service of Remembrance will be held Tuesday at 11AM from James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11AM at the funeral home. Memorial Donations can be made to James E. Humphrey Funeral Home 1112 W. Market St. Pottsville PA, 17901 in order to help defray some funeral expenses.
