Timothy A. Blihar, 45 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Thursday, February 7, 1974 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Robert Blihar and Cindy (Smith) Blihar of Tamaqua. Tim is also survived by; son, Aaron Neff, maternal grandmother, Hazel Smith; aunt Renee Breiner. He was predeceased by his brother, Jason R. Blihar on February 19, 2017.

A graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Tim had worked in the Grocery business. Tim enjoyed lifting weights and singing karaoke. He will be missed by all.

Donald W. “Sluggo” Andrews, 88 of Pottsville passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born May 29, 1931 in Phoenix Park, he was the son of the late William C. and Margaret B. (Gwyther) Andrews.

He was a 1949 graduate of the former Branch Township High School. After high school he worked briefly at ALCOA before enlisting in the United States Navy. From 1951-1955 he served his country aboard the USS Salem as a 3rd Class gunner’s mate.

Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. He was also a member of Central Pennsylvania Teamsters Local No. 429, Humane Fire Co. No. 1.

In 1952, he married the love of his life, Joan Felsburg Andrews, who preceded him in death in 2017.

Don worked as a truck driver for several companies including, Schuylkill Products, Felty Brick, and his last employer, Liberty Oil Co. until his retirement in 1994.

During Retirement, he volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels with his good buddy Charles “Chow” Heffner and working at the Senior Center in Pottsville. During the summer, he enjoyed going to the JFK pool. He also enjoyed watching old westerns on TV, cross word search puzzles, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by infant daughter, Debra Sue Andrews; brother, Russell Andrews; sister, Geraldine M. “Geri” Miller; and sister-in-law, Lois Walsh.

He is survived by daughter, Wendy Kline, Bethlehem; son, Donald W. Andrews, Jr husband of Donna, Pottsville; grandchildren, Alison Piripavel, Adam Kline, Jill Kline, Lindsay Andrews; great-grandchildren, Matison and Thomas Piripavel, Nathan Kline, and Londyn Platts; son-in-law, Kenneth Kline Jr.; cousin, Shirley Truxelle.

Funeral Services will be held 11AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville with Pastor Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends may call from 9AM until the time of the service. Interment with military honor will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributes be made to National Alzheimer’s Association 225 North Michigan Ave. Fl. 17 Chicago IL 60601.

Betty Ardell Davies, 92, lifelong resident of Tamaqua, PA died on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Coaldale, PA. She was the wife of the late John “Jack” P. Davies to whom she was married 57 years at the time of his death on March 21, 2008.

Born in Tamaqua on January 29, 1927, Betty was the daughter of the late George and Amelia (nee Lloyd) Morris but was raised by her late aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Charles Wink. A 1944 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she worked as a switchboard operator at the Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds for 21 years. In later years, Betty owned a dress shop which was located in the basement of her home. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church, Tamaqua.

Betty is survived by son, Jonathan Davies and his wife, Deborah of Tuscarora, PA; daughter, Beth Lattanzi and her husband, John of Hometown, PA; grandchildren, Josh Davies of Georgetown, Texas, Michael Luna of Franklin, Tennessee, Amanda Hascin of Tamaqua, Lynn Davies of Hellertown, PA, and Olivia Lattanzi of Hometown; and 2 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by son, Jeff Davies and brother, William Morris.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Ed Noftz officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 501 West Broad Street, Tamaqua will follow services. Call 9-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. James L. Fedorick, 78 of Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at home surrounded by his family.

Born Saturday, December 13, 1941 in Junedale, Luzerne County the son of the late Vincent and June (Fisher) Fedorick. He was also predeceased by; sister, Mary Titus; brother, William Fedorick.

Surviving are his adopted family with whom he resided; Michael and Linda Mundy, their children; Bobbi Kulaga, her children, Haley, and Hunter, Tina and Frank VanBuren their children, Aleida and Ashley and her husband Nate, Michael Mundy and his wife Christy their daughter, Alyssa; son, David Fedorick; daughter, Tracy Fedorick, brother, Lawrence Fedorick and his wife Beth of White Haven; grand child, Daniel; nieces, Denise, Judy, Cindy, Toni, Ashley, and many great nieces and nephews.

A 1959 graduate of Hazleton High School, James served honorably in the United States Marines. As a member of the Teamsters, James drove truck for many years until taking a job with the Panther Valley School District. He was a past president of the Coaldale Ambulance Association. James enjoyed playing Bingo and being with his extended family.

Carl L. Hoffman, 90, of Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Stoneridge Poplar Run, Myerstown.

Born on October 14, 1929 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late George and Emma Zimmerman Hoffman.

He was a 1948 graduate of Pine Grove High School. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove and the Pine Grove VFW.

He was a Sgt. in the Army having served during the Korean War.

Carl was a butcher and owner of Hoffman's Market in Pine Grove.
Preceding him in death were his wife Fern K. Behm Hoffman; a step daughter, Nancy Burke; two brothers, Ernest Hoffman and Robert Hoffman; a sister, Grace Kreiser.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheri and husband Michael Galloway of Elverson; a son, Scott Hoffman and his companion Debbie of Landsdale; a step son, David and wife Margie Schwalm of Mt. Joy; son-in-law, Mike and his wife Sylvia Burke; grandchildren; great grandchildren; a sister, Janet Fidler of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. There will be a viewing on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
