Nancy Mohrbach, 90, of Tamaqua, PA and formerly of Ashland, PA died on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Hometown, PA. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Mohrbach who died in 1995.

Born in Ashland on August 27, 1929, Nancy was a daughter of the late Clinton and Florence (nee Lauer) Tiley. A 1947 graduate of the former Ashland High School, she graduated from McCann’s School of Business and for 20 years was a secretary in Dr. Jewell’s dental office. Nancy was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua. She loved to pass her time reading and was very fond of all animals.

She is survived by daughter, Bonnie Jones and her husband, Richard of Lehighton, PA; son, Robert C. Mohrbach and his wife, Cecilia of South Tamaqua; grandchildren, Eric Jones, Lisa Jones Roesch, Rebecca Mohrbach, Christian Mohrbach, and Erin Mohrbach; 8 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by siblings Esther Woods, Kenneth Tiley, Lamar Tiley, Joseph Craig Tiley, and Joan Tiley Savage.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials in Nancy’s name may be made to the Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.

Jim Lynch, 93, passed away on January 6 at his longtime McLean, VA home. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Agnes Quinn; children Mary Agnes Garman (Rick), Joanne Lynch, John Lynch (Noelle), and Margaret Lynch (Scott Blake); and grandchildren Ryan, Emily, and Jack Lynch; and Catherine and James Martin.

Fiercely proud of the pluck and determination of his Irish Catholic ancestors, Jim was born and raised in the Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, anthracite coal region. He was a strong proponent of education as the path to opportunity. Working his way through school, even as a boxing sparring partner, Jim graduated from Villanova University (BS Mechanical Engineering), the University of Pennsylvania (MS Mechanical Engineering & Gas Turbines), and the Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology (Diploma, Nuclear Engineering).

During his distinguished federal career, Jim was recognized as a national nuclear electric propulsion expert. A professional highlight was providing engineering support for the NASA Apollo Lunar missions.

Jim was an avid reader of nonfiction, a Big Band music aficionado, and an ardent Notre Dame football fan. With a neighborhood reputation as a superior writer, his coaching enhanced many term papers and resumes.

Jim is predeceased by his beloved siblings, Rev. John J. Lynch and Margaret Barney, both of Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Interment will take place on Monday, January 13th at 11 AM at Saint Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy City, PA 17948.

Paul M. Sekela, 59, of Shenandoah, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home.

Born in Shenandoah on December 14th, 1960 he was the son of the late Paul and Jean “Staskel” Sekela.

He was a 1978 graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan High School. Paul worked for Jeld-Wen in Ringtown, Pa for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Krusinsky wife of Francis “Fritz”, Shenandoah.

Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Francis Cardinal Brennan Council 618, Shenandoah, a social member of the Polish American Fire Company, a life member of the Park Crest Fish and Game Club, and a member of the former Eagles F.O.E. in Shenandoah. He loved hunting and the outdoors and was an avid Penn State fan.

A graveside burial will be conducted on Saturday, January 11th at 10:30am in the Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Ruth A. Valentine, 74 years of age, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Saturday, July 28, 1945 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Moyer) Valentine. Ruth was also predeceased by; son, Wayne Michael Arndt; brothers, John T. Valentine and Robert W. Valentine.

Surviving are son, Randolph L. Arndt of Danville; daughter, Samantha Arndt of Summit Hill; brother, Paul D. Valentine and his wife Starr of Tamaqua; grand children, Jessica Knerr, Randolph Knerr, Lucas Arndt; great grand children, Sebastian, Gabriel, and Lucas. Ruth is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
