Kerwin to Seek Election to the 125th State House District

This past week, Dauphin County District Attorney Joe Kerwin announced that he intends to run for the 125th State Legislative District, replacing the retiring State Representative Mike Tobash.

Kerwin, of Lykens, Dauphin County, calls himself a lifelong Republican and resident of the 125th District.  He is a graduate of the Upper Dauphin Area School District, Penn State University, and Penn State Dickinson School of Law.  While at Penn State, Kerwin received an Army ROTC Scholarship and upon graduation he received commission as an Army Officer.  He attended Penn State Dickinson School of Law while serving in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and currently serves as a prosecutor in the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office.

"I am excited to announce my candidacy for State Representative.  My family taught me the importance of service to community and country.  My time in the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office and my military experience has shown me the need for new leadership in Harrisburg.  I am not a career politician, so I am not accountable to anyone other than the taxpayers." Kerwin said.

Kerwin has served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for eight years.  He is a 1st Lieutenant Infantry Officer with the 56th Stryker Brigade and a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He received his Ranger tab in 2019.

"My military experience has allowed me to become a strong and principled leader, "  stated Kerwin.  "I will take those traits to Harrisburg to be an unwavering voice for the citizens of the 125th District."

Kerwin, who has been endorsed by the Dauphin County Republican Committee, stated that he decided to run for office out of concern for the radical liberal agenda being pushed in Washington D.C. and Harrisburg.

"Our 2nd amendment rights and religious freedoms are under assault by liberal politicians and activists,"  declared Kerwin.  I will boldly defend the right to keep and bear arms, protect the unborn and to lower taxes that are hurting small businesses, family farms, and senior citizens."

Joe Kerwin's roots in the 125th District extend to Schuylkill County.  His great-grandfather was a coal miner in Schuylkill County and his grandfather opened a law office in Lykens in the 1940's.

Kerwin is a member of Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Short Mountain Conservation Club, and the National Rifle Association.
