NO CABLE: Thousands Without Cable Service After Construction Company Cuts Fiber Line

A construction company leaves thousands of cable customers without service Thursday in Schuylkill County.

Late Thursday afternoon, many residents who use Service Electric for their TV cable, internet, and phone in Ashland, Gilberton, Fountain Springs, Frackville, and other area communities saw their service disconnected.  Many thought it was an issue with their own service and called the company's customer service, only to learn that it was a known issue.

Later Thursday, just after 7:00pm, Service Electric Cable Vision gave an official statement and it wasn't all good news.
Customers in Gilberton, Ashland, Frackville, Girardville, and surrounding areas are currently without Internet, TV & Phone service due to a fiber cut caused by a construction company performing work on the Gilberton bridge. Our technicians are working all night to restore services to the impacted areas; however, due to the severity of the fiber cut, services may not be restored until tomorrow morning (2/21). We know it can be inconvenient, for that we apologize and will provide additional updates as they become available. -- Service Electric Cablevision, Inc.
As of 10:30pm, service had not been restored to customers.

UPDATE:  Service was restored overnight.
