Abandoned Home Collapses in Ashland

A home that has been abandoned for years and went neglected collapsed in Ashland Monday evening.

Just before 8:00pm, Monday, fire, police, and borough authorities were dispatched to the 100 Block of Middle Street in Ashland for structural collapse.

Ashland Police responded along with Fire Chief Philip Groody to find the rear of a home at 133 Middle Street collapsed.

Nearby neighbor who were at the scene said they were just sitting down to have dinner when they heard the home collapse and found the mess outside.

As of Monday evening the collapsing home was not in danger of any occupied homes, but Ashland Borough Code Enforcement will be at the scene Tuesday to determine what to do next.

According to the Schuylkill County Parcel, the property is owned by Henry and Priscilla Blume.
