Shenandoah Valley Recognizes Students of the Month for February, March, April, and May


The Shenandoah Valley School District has announced their February, March, April, and May Students of the Month.

FEBRUARY - Alyssa Buchanan

Alyssa is the daughter of Renee Delvalle Buchanan and Joseph Buchanan.

Her community service activities include helping with the residents at Shenandoah Manor, Cleaning up Raven Run, working kids FunRun, park cleanups, Healthy Shenandoah meetings, town cleanups, and working the Jr. Football Games.

Her School Activities include Volleyball, Student Council Vice President, Vice President of the Senior Class, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Cheer, National Honor Society Vice President, Dual Enrollment, AP Classes, Youth Summit, Mini-THON committee, float committee, talent search, and formal committee.

Her Personal Interests include being active and exercising, playing volleyball and basketball, being with my friends and family, watching the Cowboys, listening to Taylor Swift, and cleaning.

Alyssa's Future Plans are to attend college and become an Orthodontist.

March - Joseph Karvois

Joseph is the son of Stephen and Joelle Karvois.

His community service activities include reading to emotional supports kids in the elementary school, tutoring younger kids that need help with their work, park clean ups, Spartan games, special Olympics, worked at heritage day parade, worked at the kielbasa festival, roadside clean ups, altar server at my church, cutting his old neighbors grass, mini thon, running tournaments in the school, and visiting the nursing home.

His School Activities include Football, basketball, baseball, track, student council, national honor society, mini thon, Senator for a Day, and youth summit.

His Personal Interests are playing sports, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends.

Joseph's Future Plans are to attend Gettysburg College and play football and major in international relations and affairs and minor in political science and then attend law school.

April - Kayla Perrong

Kayla is the daughter of Scott Perrong and Jessica Perrong.


Her Community Service Activities include ASPCA Volunteer, Junior Firefighter for the Rescue Hook and Ladder Fire Company.

Her School Activities include Librarian, Vice President, and Captain of Percussion in the Shenandoah Valley Band, Honor Society, Talent Search, Morning Announcements, Stage crew manager in the Drama Club.

Her Personal Interests are Art, Reading, The Sciences, Volunteer work, occasionally playing video games.

April's Future Plans are to attend College, major in Chemistry, and become a Cardiovascular Surgeon.

May - Alex Donchack

Alex is the son of Kelly and Michael Donchak.

His Community Service Activities include Chain Crew for the Shenandoah Mini Football Association, Announced Games at the Shenandoah Little League, Repaired Babe Ruth park in Shenandoah, Cleaned up the road near Mrs.T's going into Mahanoy, Visited the elderly at the Shenandoah Manor, Worked the Spartan Games event at North Schuylkill, Worked the Special Olympics at Pottsville Area High School, Cleaned up the Shenandoah Museum.

His School Activities include Football, Basketball,  Track & Field, Student Council, Class Historian, Y.E.S Program, Shenandoah Torch

His Personal Interests are Fishing, Concerts, Sporting Events, Creating and editing photos/videos.

Alex's Future Plans are to attend college and majoring in Radiology.
