American Red Cross, Girardville and Ashland Fire Departments to Offer Free Carbon Monoxide Detector Installations This Sunday

After installations were cancelled earlier this year because of COVID-19, Ashland and Girardville firefighters as well as the American Red Cross are keeping their promise to install Carbon Monoxide detectors.

Originally, an installation drive was scheduled to take place, April 18th, 2020 but was postponed due to safety concerns.

According to Patricia Daley, of the American Red Cross, the drive is back on and installations will take place Sunday, October 4th, 2020.

The drive is a project between the Ashland Fire Department, Girardville Fire Department, Salvation Army, and American Red Cross.

The drive will be the first of many that take place around Schuylkill County over the coming months.

Residents of Ashland or Girardville can contact their borough's contact if they wish to have a carbon monoxide or smoke detector install.
  • Ashland residents can register by contacting Ashland Borough Hall at (570) 875-2411.
  • Girardville residents can register by contacting Chief Zangari at (570) 276-6922.
Daley specifically thanks John Kiehl from Mt. View Restoration, Kelly Malone of the Schuylkill United Way, and Becky Netznik Salvation Army for their help in the project.
