Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm Fire in Ashland

A fire in Ashland Monday afternoon displaced at least 11 people.

At 2:23pm, fire crews were called to the area of 420 Middle Street in Ashland for a house fire.

Assistant fire chief Charlie Orth was the first to respond to the scene and reported a column of smoke was able to be seen as he approached.

Heavy fire was found in the rear of the home and the fire was quickly upgraded to a 3rd alarm calling in additional units from around Schuylkill County, Northumberland County, and Columbia County.  A tanker task force was also dispatched.

The fire heavily damaged the homes of 426 and 422 Centre and also caused minor damage to a home at 420 Centre.

Early reports were that 11 people were displaced.  One person was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

All occupants made it out safely.

As of 4:00pm, crews were still at the scene.
