Shirley M. (Geist) Miller, 83, of Pottsville went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born January 17, 1937 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Avril Geist.

Shirley was a member of Bible Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, Schuylkill Haven where she was their faithful piano player for the church services and monthly Singspiration. She didn’t need sheet music to play. A song was requested and she played- a gift from above. Shirley played for over 50 years in many churches throughout the area as two of her sons and daughters sing southern gospel songs and traditional hymns. She was so thankful to meet many of the people they inspired. She married Arthur J. Miller, Sr. on September 4, 1954 and raised six children.

She was previously employed by Parkway Box Factory, the former Rest Haven Nursing Home, and most recently, Avenues where she enjoyed working as a direct care worker, playing the piano for their choir at the annual duck race and the Christmas programs and benefits. Besides her love of music, Shirley loved to bake and cook for family and friends.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerry Geist.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Arthur J. Miller, Sr., sons and daughters, Craig Miller husband of Joy, Duane Miller husband of Cindy, Denise Adams widow of Ron, Arthur Miller Jr, Brenda wife of Pastor George Somers, and Kevin Miller husband of Teresa, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, grand dog, Malachi, a brother, Gary Geist, and a sister, Carol Kutash.

A funeral service will be held 11AM on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Bible Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, 314 S. Margaretta St. Schuylkill Haven with Pastor Douglas Schwenk officiating. Family and friends may call at the church 5PM until 8PM on Friday evening and 10AM Saturday, until the time of the service. Interment will be held in Cressona Cemetery, Cressona.
