Home Destroyed by Fire Early Friday in Butler Township

Fire crews battled a house fire early Friday in Butler Township near Fountain Springs.

At 12:30am, Friday, emergency personnel in Butler Township and Ashland were dispatched to a house fire located at 34 Brown Lane.

Police and fire crews arrived on-scene to find a fully engulfed house fire with entrapment.

One person was reported to have jumped from a roof of the home and was flown to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Phil Groody Jr. of the Fountain Springs Fire Company, 2 people were unaccounted for.

A tanker task force was called to assist calling in additional water.

The home was a complete loss.  As of this posting there was no word on the 2 unaccounted victims.  A State Police Fire Marshal was called to the scene.

UPDATE(7:20am) - A Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner has been called to the scene of the fire after one of the victims was found.
