Eugene G Fesig
, age 93, of Valley View, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Providence Place, Pine Grove.

He was born on Thursday, April 7, 1927, in Reinerton, a son of the late George Fesig and the late Mabel (Diehl) Fesig.

He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Eugene served in the US Army during World War II.

He worked for TRW, Mechanicsburg, then was a door to door delivery person for Brokhoff's Dairy and Lehigh Valley Dairy, and retired from Penn Reel, Hegins.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

Eugene enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Lamar Fesig, and two sisters Doris Canale and Carol Pakkala.

He is survived by his wife Shirley P (Matter) Fesig, to whom he was married for 70 years.

He is also survived by daughter, Karen L Schwalm and her husband Daniel of Valley View; two grandsons, Matthew D Schwalm and his wife Ashley of Dillsburg, and Adam M Schwalm and his wife Tabitha of Valley View; two great grandsons, Jacob Schwalm and Jeremiah Schwalm both of Valley View; four great granddaughters, Kelly Schwalm of Valley View, Naomi Schwalm of Dillsburg, Josie Schwalm of Dillsburg, and Eliana Schwalm of Dillsburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private services will be held a the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.

Thomas J. Minnichbach, 80 of Pine Grove, passed away Monday morning, February 22, at his home.

Born on November 24, 1940, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Lester and Margaret Brennan Minnichbach .

Thomas worked for 48 years as an Insurance Salesman for Monumental Life.

He was a member of the Most Blessed Trinity Parish in Tremont and a 1958 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.
Thomas played the guitar, enjoyed fishing and taking his dogs for walks.

His Wife of 57 years, Mary Bressler Minichbach preceded him in death on April 2, 2019.

Surviving are two Sons, Eric and wife Sharon Minichbach of Pine Grove and Matthew and wife Nikki Minichbach of Pottstown; three Grandchildren Tara Reidler, Kirsten Kohr and Meg Minichbach, and many great grandchildren.

Bernadette D. Jones, 70, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born on July 3, 1950 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John A. Rich and the late Betty Dixon Butler. She attended Pottsville schools, and was formerly employed by Wearever-Dixon. She later worked for the Quartet Lamp Company.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Shirley Bohr, Alberta Endicott, Betty Steigerwalt, Geraldine Darinsig, Mary Wise, Edward Butler, John Butler and William Butler.

She is survived by two children, Frank Jones, Jr., Camp Hill and Crystal Jones Steward (spouse, Donell), Pottsville; six grandchildren; four siblings, MaryJane Reed (spouse, David), Pottsville, Alfred Rich (spouse, Teresa), Lavelle, Robert “Butch” Butler (spouse, Donna), Pittsburgh, and Violet Viars, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Services are private.

Richard L. Berner
, 87, of Schaeffer’s Hill, Cass Township, passed away on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.

Born on June 27, 1933 in Schaeffer’s Hill, he was thirteenth of fifteen children of the late George and Loretta Shadle Berner. He was a 1951 graduate of Cass Township High School. He began a banking career as a teller with Miners Bank, eventually serving as manager of the bank’s Pine Grove branch. In retirement, he worked for Trail Gardens, where he developed his “green thumb”, growing and nurturing numerous plants and flowers in his home.

He served as a Radio Operator in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of the former English Lutheran Church, Minersville, and a current member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Ashland, where he served as treasurer of the Lutheran Church Men, among the many other church activities in which he participated. His employment in Pine Grove also led him to be actively involved in community affairs and organizations, including membership in the Pine Grove Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Catherine Bartolet, Leila Nelson, Robert Berner, Harold Berner, William Berner, James Berner, Mildred Searle, Jean Berner, John Berner, Nancy Harner and Thomas Berner.

Richard is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Anderson, Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Ruth Berner and Joan Berner, both of Schaeffer’s Hill; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 437 Airport Road, Ashland on Monday from 9:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. John's Kimmel's Cemetery, Ashland RD 1. Donations are preferred to Lehigh Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 1883, Allentown, PA 18105 or to the church are preferred.
