Marie Carolyn Glasser, age 94, of Schuylkill Haven, PA passed away Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill in Pottsville.

Born in Port Carbon, PA on October 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Caroline (Wintzenburg) Glasser.

Marie was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School in Port Carbon. She worked as a Office Service Manager at Phillips Van Heusen in Pottsville, PA, Piscataway, NJ, and Bridgwater, CT and she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Frackville

Marie was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Millard Glasser (Dorothy Schaeffer Glasser), Earl Glasser (Lorraine Winterstine Glasser), and Donald Glasser (Quida Thatcher Glasser), sister Margaret Glasser Archibald (Walter Archibald), nephew John Archibald, and niece Cynthia Jones Archibald.

Marie is survived by nephews: Walter Archibald, New York; Dean Glasser, Weatherly, PA; James Glasser, Virginia; and Donald Glasser, Virginia; nieces: Carolyn Krammes, Muncy, PA. Leslie Anderson, Florida, and Penny Glasser; and great nieces and great nephews.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 11AM on Saturday, May 8th, with Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday from 9-11AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Charles Baber Cemetery in Pottsville.

Melvin J Kroh, age 98, of Hegins, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on Saturday, December 30, 1922, in Valley View, a son of the late Gurney Kroh and the late Katie (Williard) Kroh.

He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He served in the US Army.

Mel was a self employed coal miner and then operated Kroh's Garage, Hegins, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins.

He was also a former member and past president of the Valley View Gun Club, an original member of the Uf -Und -Druf Hunting Camp, and a member of the PA Trappers Association.

Mel was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He was a three time State Single Barrel Pigeon shooting champion. Mel was a master duck and fish carver. He was also a former Cub Scout leader. He assisted with wild turkey establishment and the construction of the trout hatchery at the Valley View Gun Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Herald; and three sisters, Ruth, Hilda, and Dora.

He is survived by his wife Gloria V (Schwartz) Kroh, to whom he was married for 70 years.

He is also survived by four sons, Thomas G Kroh and his wife Betty of Hegins, Randy J Kroh and his wife Roxy of Ephrata, Scott M Kroh and his wife Kylene of Hegins, and Timothy A Kroh and his wife Kelly of Wycombe; a daughter, Joanne L Stehr and her husband Rick of Stevens; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jonathan Hikes officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home.
