Nancy B. King, age 83, of Palo Alto, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at her home.

Born in Palo Alto, PA on September 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Lydia (Giordano) Maccarone.

Nancy was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School in Port Carbon. She worked as a candy maker at Costas York in Palo Alto and then as a delivery driver for the Pottsville Republican Newspaper.

Nancy was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville.

She was the last member of her immediate family being preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, John P. "Jack" King on February 25, 2015, 2 brothers Joseph and John Maccarone and 3 sisters Floretta Conyette, Jean Macaluso and Anna Marie Schumacher.

Nancy is survived by a son Jamie King, Palo Alto; a daughter Marliesa Eckley and her husband Anthony, Palo Alto; five grandchildren: Samantha, Neil, and Olivia King and Beau Anthony and Neiko Anthony Eckley; and a great granddaughter Gwendolyn King and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville on Wednesday May 19th at 11AM, with Rev. Edward Connolly officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 9-11AM at the Church.

Interment will be held private in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Mary Rose Visgarda
, age 98, of Palo Alto and Port Carbon passed away on Monday, May 10th, 2021 at Providence Place in Pottsville.

Born in New Philadelphia, PA on August 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Fortunato and Cerilla (Agnoletti) Cescon.

Mary was a graduate of St. Stephen's High School in Port Carbon and a longtime member of the former St. Stephen's Church in Port Carbon. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing, and Italian culture.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Paul Visgarda on February 25, 1981 and son-in-law David H. Meyers.

Mary is survived by daughter Joan "Joni" Marie Meyers, Harrisburg; sons: Joseph Visgarda, Port Carbon and Thomas Visgarda and his wife Stacia (Zukus), Leesport; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair at 12noon on Monday, May 17th, with Msgr. William Glosser officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday morning from 10-12PM at the Church.

Interment will be held in the St. Stephen Cemetery in Port Carbon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joseph E. Walsh, age 90, of Palo Alto, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at Providence Place in Pottsville.

Born in Port Carbon, PA on July 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph Miles and Helen (Yakabonis) Walsh.

Joe served in the U.S. Air Force as a Cpl from 1947 till 1949 and was stationed in Guam and Okinawa. He worked as a mechanic in maintenance at ALCOA in Cressona and Lebanon. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Clair and the East End Fire Company in Palo Alto. Joe had a strong love for his family, his faith and his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Bitterlich and Marie Goss and three brothers: John Walsh, Vincent Walsh, and William Walsh.

Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years Anne Marie (Harvilla) Walsh, Palo Alto; daughter Eileen Morgan, Glenolden; daughter Anne Marie Weller and her husband Thomas, Schoentown, PA; daughter Kathleen Wigoda and her husband Richard, St. Clair; son Joseph E. Walsh III and his wife Grace, Kingsland, GA; daughter Colleen Sullivan and her husband Timothy, Palo Alto; sister Kathleen Dowling and her husband Joseph, Port Carbon; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville on Tuesday May 18th at 11AM, with Rev. Edward Connolly officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday morning from 10-11AM at the church.

Interment with Military Honors provided by the St. Clair Veterans Honor Guard will be held in the St. Stephen Cemetery in Port Carbon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lessie’s Garden and Greenhouse (Avenues), The Ronald McDonald House, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
