Frances B. Dronick, 95, of Cressona, passed away Wednesday, May 19th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, PA on May 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Linus & Frances (Schmitt)Bortzel.

She was the widow of Merlin Dronick.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Marie Fitzpatrick, and Catherine Bortzel, and a brother, Linus Bortzel.

Frances is survived by her children: Merlin Dronick husband of Theresa, Adamsdale, Dolly Malec, Pottsville, Paul Dronick, Minersville, Francine Dronick, Cressona and Richard Dronick and companion Lisa, Cressona; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and sister Francine Bortzel, New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 25th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the church.

Interment will follow mass at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona.

Carol R. Sholl
, 78, of Northcrest Acres, Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at home.

Born on December 28, 1942 in Lebanon, she was a daughter of Violet Koch Frantz of Schubert and the late A. James "Jim" Frantz.

She was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Ravine.

Carol was a Heavy Cook and Grill Cook for Big Jakes Restaurant in Schaefferstown for 17 years and Sholl Family Restaurant in Pine Grove for 15 years.

She loved her family, plants, flowers, all animals, cooking, the Phillies and stories of her family history.

Preceding her in death were her husband Jacob Edward "Big Jake" Sholl in 2005; and a daughter Bonnie Sue Sholl in 2020.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three sons, David and wife Beverly Sholl of Lebanon, Steven and wife Barbara Sholl of Pine Grove, Rodney and wife Danielle Sholl of Pine Grove; 12 grandchildren, Kevin Derfler, Scott Derfler, Kimberly Frantz, Jacob David Sholl, Angeline Murphy, Tyler Sholl, Amy Schueller, Randy Sholl, Ethan Shobe, Carissa Shobe, Candace Shobe and Courtney Shobe; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Flora Lee "Floss" Willette of Muhlenberg, Norene "Nicky" Gross of Frystown, Tina Klopp of Genesee; two brothers, James "Jim" Frantz of N.C.and Jeffrey Frantz of Schubert; nieces and nephews.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Paul's UCC, 244 Tremont Rd., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in her memory.

Gary L. Herring
, 72, of Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

Born on July 31, 1948 in Reading, he was a son of Esther Kerschner Herring of Tremont and the late Richard Herring.

He was a 1968 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School and a member of St. Mark's (Brown's) Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Gary was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Navy from 1968-1970.

He was a Machinist for SGL in Fritztown.

Gary enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He was a member of the Schuylkill County Motorcycle Club where he was part of the drill team and was a life time member of Harley Owner's Group where he served as road captain for a few years.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years on May 15, Ann Heinbach Herring; two daughters, Jennifer Feist and husband Jay, Rebecca Reilly and husband Richard Fasnacht, Jr.; four grandchildren, Evan Popalis, Brayden and Aryana Reilly, Brayden Fasnacht; a brother Martin Herring of Florida; a sister Elaine Cullen of New Jersey.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Carrie E. "Betty" Long, 97, of Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Tremont Health & Rehab Center.

Born on July 18, 1923 in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Lillian Pierson Fritz.

She was a 1941 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Betty worked with her husband at Bob's Home and Auto in Pine Grove.

She was a member of the Schuylkill County Quilters Guild and was an excellent quilter, talented seamstress and very artistic. She would make wedding dresses and made everyone in the family a quilt.

Betty and Bob loved to dance and would travel to see Big Bands and dance in the Ballrooms. She was also an avid gardener and loved flowers.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 70 years, Robert R. Long; her twin brother Harry Fritz; three sisters, Alda Schwartz, Lovena Heiser and Winifred Kepner.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey and wife Nola Long of Pine Grove, Thomas and wife Linda Long of Westfield, NJ; four grandchildren, Stacy Tremper, Tara Dubbs, Geoffrey Long, and Melissa Long; four great grandchildren, Marlea Tremper, Jessica Dubbs, Jenna Dubbs, and Tucker Long.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Lois E. Wood, 93, a long time resident of Rock Glen, currently residing in of Sugarloaf, passed away Thursday, May 20th, 2021.

Lois was born in Beaver Township on May 22, 1927, a daughter of the late Alice (Baker) and Burton Neaus.

She worked as a floor person, being employed in the local garment industry until her retirement. Lois enjoyed going out to eat and doing puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Gary Wood and Eugene Wood; and by five brothers and two sisters.

Lois is survived by her daughter Susan, wife of Dennis Kuzmitsky, of Sugarloaf; a step daughter Diane, wife of Leland Johnson, of Florida; two sisters, Alverta Thomashefski, of Fern Glen and Ruth McGaw, of Hazle Township; and a sister in-law Nancy O'Donnel, of West Hazleton.

She is also survived by 3 generations of grandchildren, whom she loved very much, along with nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, March 26th, from 8:30-10 AM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. Lois will be laid to rest following a graveside service which will be held at 10:30 AM at the Mountain Grove Cemetery.
