Author to Discuss Book and Sheppton Mining Disaster in Shenandoah

Author Maxim Furek will discuss his book Sheppton: The Myth, Miracle & Music at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Shenandoah Area Free Library, 15 West Washington Street, Shenandoah, PA.

Furek’s book investigates supernatural themes during the 1963 Sheppton mining disaster and explores the Sheppton rescue technology that saved 33 miners in a Chilean copper mine. Sheppton represents the Coal Region’s forbidden urban legend and final mystery.

Furek is also the biographer of the Jordan Brothers, Frackville’s legendary rock group.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation. The public is invited to this free educational event.
