Roberta G. (Bobby) Andersen, 88, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday, May 31st, at her residence.

Bobby was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 11, 1933, a daughter of the late Miriam (Chamberlain) and John Hart. She was a Graduate of Malvern High School, and she attended the Hofstra University. She worked as a Keypunch operator in New York.

She was the wife of Alden Holme Andersen. They have been happily married for 67 years.

Bobby married Andy after a two year courtship and they have been happily married ever since. They adopted their first two children, Mark and Jane Ann, from the New York Foundling Hospital, New York, New York. They were then blessed with pregnancy and the third child, John, was born. Shortly after John’s birth, a local hospital on Long Island had a baby boy for adoption and he became their fourth child, baby Matthew. They lived on Long Island for 30 years. When her husband retired, they moved to Western Maryland at Oakland. While living there, Bobby was a member of the GFWC Civic Club of Oakland MD where she served as recording secretary. Bobby also, together with another member of the Civic Club, instituted a volunteer program at the local hospital. She was a den mother for the local cub scouts. After 17 years in Maryland they moved to Orwigsburg. She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven, and she was also a member of the Lades Sodality. Bobby volunteered at the St Ambrose School at various chores. With her husband, Andy, she also volunteered at Seton Manor. She was known to be a great Thanksgiving Day host as well as a wonderful wife and mother.

Her daughter, Jane Ann Woodard; two sons, John Andersen husband of Jacquelyn and Matthew Andersen as well as her grandchildren.

Bobby was preceded in death by her son Mark Andersen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 8 th at 10:30 AM, at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven, with Msgr Rev. Edward Zemanik officiating.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church 201 Randel Street Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

Private Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
