Richard, L. Harner, Sr.
, 87, formerly of Tower City, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the UPMC Carlisle.

Born in Good Spring, August 12, 1934, a son of the late Irvin and Maude Carl Harner.

Rich was retired from Richmond Screw and Anchor, Tremont. He had previously worked for thirteen years with the former TRW, Harrisburg and was a school bus driver for over 33 years.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Dorothy Schaeffer Harner, October 20, 2011, three brothers; Ivin, Leonard and Bruce Harner and one sister, Bernice Harner.

Surviving are his three sons, Richard L. Harner, Jr., and his wife Anne, Dillsburg; Randal L. Harner and his wife Jackie, Tower City and Brad A. Harner and his wife Heather, Mount Joy; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 am from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1931 Wiconisco Street, Tower City, PA 17980.

Donna M. Gavaletz
, 72, of Seiders Hill, North Manheim Township, passed away on Friday at home surrounded by her family.

Born on August 22, 1949 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. Gretsky, Sr. and the late Mary T. Lucas Gretsky. She was a 1967 graduate of Minersville Area High School, and a graduate of Empire Beauty School.

She was a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for 32 years before retiring in 2007. She continued her friendship with retired co-workers during their monthly breakfast get-togethers. She was especially fond of the day trips she took with her son and daughter as well as her many trips to Florida over the years. Her greatest joy was her family’s recent addition of her granddaughter, Hayden Stephens.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael A. Gretsky, Jr., in 2005.

In addition to her granddaughter, Donna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph M. Gavaletz; two children, Joel M. Gavaletz (fiancée, Jen Edwards), North Manheim Township, and Jenna M. Gavaletz (fiancé, David Stephens), Conshohocken.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 6:00 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 9:15 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment will be in St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery, Branch Township. Visitors and attendees are expected to follow CDC guidelines.
