Frank Leo Scheuren, 96, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday evening at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born in Ashland, on January 2, 1925, he was a son of the late Leo L. and Elizabeth L. (Pepper) Scheuren.

Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Sergeant in the 13th Armored Division in Europe.

He was a former co-owner of of the Schuylkill News Agency, Pottsville, along with his brother, James Scheuren.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Marie T. (Purcell) Scheuren, on July 7, 2020, and to whom he was married for 71 years; sons, Frank L. Jr., in 1970 and Thomas J. , in 2008; and stepmother, Mildred Scheuren.

He is survived by granddaughter, Elizabeth Scheuren, of Pound Ridge, NY; brother, James L. Scheuren, of Pottsville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Morris, of Oxford, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and extend a heartfelt Thank You to the nurses of Advantage Hospice, Providence Place, and all the good friends and caretakers who helped to care for Frank.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Frank was very proud of his mother's Pepper family heritage, therefore, the family requests contributions in Frank's memory be sent to: Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, Frank J. Pepper and Thomas J. Pepper Memorial Fund, 216 S. Center St., Pottsville, PA 17901.

Carl D. Brown
, 85, of Kurtz Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at home.

Born on January 4, 1936 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Hilda Brown.

Carl was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren where he served as Deacon and was on the Cemetery Board.

He was a Maintenance Supervisor at Quaker Alloy in Myerstown, and the former Stecko and H. L. Miller, both in Schuylkill Haven. He also had his own lawn repair business and was a Jacobsen Dealer.

Carl had been an avid hunter, loved fixing things and loved spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 54 years, Vera Kintzel Brown, and a brother Willis Zimmerman.

Surviving are two daughters, Melanie and husband Ronald Ray Daubert of Pine Grove, Melinda Brown of Media; three grandchildren, Victoria and husband Jordan Feidt, Madeline Daubert, and Luke Brown; two great grandsons, Brady and Peyton Feidt; a brother Kenneth "Butch" Zimmerman of Pine Grove; and a sister-in-law Leona Kintzel of Pine Grove.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove with Mike Barnhart officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, c/o Lois Lehman 26 Pine Hill Rd. Pine Grove, PA 17963 in his memory.
