Governor Wolf Announces Approval of Environmental and Infrastructure Projects Across Pennsylvania


On Wednesday, Governor Tom Wolf announced 130 new project approvals through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for environmental and infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania.
“These projects will improve communities and enhance the quality of life for Pennsylvanians,” said Gov. Wolf. “They are the kind of improvements and upgrades that continue to make our commonwealth a truly great place to live, work and play.”

The 130 Act 13 projects approved today are in 40 counties. The total funding amount is more than $18.2 million.

The projects are designated for specific initiatives as follows:
  • Flood Mitigation: ten projects approved; $2,401,281 total
  • Greenways, Trails and Recreation: 94 projects approved; $12,219,569 total
  • Sewage Facilities: four projects approved; $73,830 total
  • Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging: one project approved; $150,000 total
  • Watershed Restoration and Protection: 21 projects approved; $3,407,495 total
In Schuylkill County, the following 14 Projects were approved:
  • Abandoned Mine Drainage Abatement & Treatment
    • Keystone Potato Products - Mine Pool Treatment System Expansion - $274,347
    • Keystone Anthracite Co., Inc - Weston Tunnel Water Treatment/Lost Creek Restoration - $850,000
  •  Greenways, Trails and Recreation
    • Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association - $100,000
    • Orwigsburg Borough - Community Memorial Hall Renovations - $200,000
    • Mahanoy City Borough - North Main Street Playground - $120,604
    • Schuylkill Headwaters Association - New Philadelphia Walking Trail - $103,375
    • Ashland Borough - Little League Field Improvements - $120,000
    • Delano Township - Trenton Park - $56,000
    • Frackville Borough - Community Pool Project - $200,000
    • Schuylkill River Greenway Association - Pottsville and Schuylkill Haven Feasibility Study - $40,000
    • Minersville Borough - Recreational Complex Upgrade - $90,000
    • Dustin's Adventureland - Inclusive Playground Development - $100,000
  • Watershed Restoration and Protection
    • Stoudt's Ferry Preparation Company - Schuylkill River Channel Restoration - $4,733
    • Schuylkill Conservation District - Good Spring Creek Floodplain Restoration Phase 1 - $300,000
