Knoebels Offering Free Ride Pass to Past and Present Military This Saturday

Knoebels Amusement Resort invites past and present United States Military members to enjoy a free ride pass this Saturday, May 20.

On this day, park guests can visit with reps from military branches to learn about career and service opportunities. Thanks to Northumberland County’s Veterans Affairs department, this year’s event will also include organizations that support veterans, and local veteran Don Rouse as guest speaker.

Armed Forces Day was established in 1949 by President Harry S. Truman. The month of May was designated as Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly show their appreciation for our military.

Since 2016, Knoebels has invited past and present members of the U.S. Armed Forces to enjoy a free ride pass on Armed Forces Day. According to park officials, Knoebels is happy to be able to offer this once again on Saturday, May 20.

“Since Knoebels isn’t open on Veterans Day, we also honor our Veterans on this special day,” said Stacy Yutko, Knoebels’ Public Relations Director. “We are grateful for Northumberland County Veterans Affairs department’s help to once again provide resources for veterans.”

The schedule of events for the day includes:11AM-4PM: Visit with Military Branches to learn about career and service opportunities
  • Noon-4PM: Veteran & Military Resource Fair
  • 2:30PM: Presentation of Colors, Veteran Recognition and Guest Speaker Don Rouse
  • 1:30 & 4PM: Catawissa Military Band performances
All events will take place at the Hawaiian Bandshell. In the instance of inclement weather, the Veteran & Military Resource Fair and Military Branches will be relocated to Pavilion L near Impulse roller coaster.

To redeem the free ride pass on May 20, guests must visit Knoebels’ Ride Pass Building and present a valid Driver's License with Veterans Designation or a valid Driver's License and a Military ID (Active Military ID Card, Official Military Retirement Card, Official Military Separation Papers - DD214).

This event is in addition to Knoebels’ military appreciation program.
