Powerball Jackpot Grows to $1 Billion for Wednesday's Drawing, Three Pennsylvania Winners Announced from Monday's Drawing

The excitement is growing as the Powerball® jackpot reaches a staggering $1 billion, with a cash value of $516.8 million, ahead of the highly anticipated Wednesday drawing.

The Pennsylvania Lottery is also buzzing with celebration as it recognizes three lucky Powerball® ticket holders from the Monday, July 17 drawing, collectively worth a remarkable $1.4 million. Among the winners are two fortunate players who scored $200,000 each and another who hit the life-changing $1 million prize.

The winning numbers for the July 17 drawing were 5, 8, 9, 17, and 41. The red Powerball® number was 21. One ticket purchased in Delaware County matched all five white balls, securing the $1 million prize, while two other tickets, sold in Lycoming and Allegheny counties, matched four white balls along with the red Powerball® to win $200,000 each.

Congratulations to the following retailers who made dreams come true for their fortunate customers:

  • Bethel Food Market located at 1406 Naamans Creek Road in Garnet Valley, Delaware County, sold the $1 million-winning ticket. As a result, the retailer will also receive a well-deserved $5,000 bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
  • Right-A-Way, located at 1200 Dewey Avenue in Williamsport, Lycoming County, and Giant Eagle, located at 600 Towne Square Way in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, both sold the $200,000 Powerball® with Power Play® winning tickets. Each of these retailers will be awarded a $500 bonus as a token of appreciation.
The Powerball® game offers players the option to add Power Play® to their tickets for an additional $1, which can significantly increase non-jackpot prizes. The Power Play® multiplier for the July 17 drawing was four, turning the $200,000 winnings into an impressive $1.4 million total.

Without the Power Play® option, the two $200,000-winning tickets would have been worth $50,000 each, but thanks to the lucky multiplier, the fortunate players are now rejoicing in their newfound wealth.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming Wednesday drawing, more and more hopefuls are trying their luck, aiming to snatch the staggering $1 billion jackpot prize.

The Pennsylvania Lottery reminds players to play responsibly and to consider the odds of winning.
