Schuylkill County Schools Earn Awards in the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" Competition

 

On April 15th, 2024, the "Whats So Cool About Manufacturing?" awards were presented to the winners, including some from Schuylkill County.


Presented by Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC), the Student Video Contest: “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” (WSCM) gave students in Berks and Schuylkill Counties the opportunity to network with local manufacturers as well as gain new perspectives, record their experiences and present them in an educational and “cool” way through documentary video production. The program was created to generate excitement that draws students towards considering manufacturing career paths to create a 21st century workforce.

The Winners are as follows in each category:
  • Outstanding Overall:    Conrad Weiser Middle School (Reading Bakery)
  • Viewers Choice: Mahanoy Area (EMD Electronics)
  • Outstanding Creativity:  Exeter Township Junior High (PhytogenX, Inc.)
  • Outstanding Cool:  Boyertown Middle School West (Unique Pretzel Bakery, Inc.)
  • Outstanding Team Spirit:  Reading Southwest Middle School (Penske Racing Shocks)
  • Outstanding Outreach Plan:  Tamaqua Area Middle School (Hydro)
  • Outstanding Career Pathway:  Wilson Southern Middle School (PTP Spanco, Inc.)
  • Best Career and Technical Education History:  Minersville Area (Ashland Technologies)
  • Outstanding Education Value: Blue Mountain Middle School (Hexcel)
  • Outstanding Brand Placement: Schuylkill Haven Middle School (Prysmian Group)
  • Outstanding Editing: Tri-Valley (Blaschak Anthracite)
  • Outstanding Videography: D.H.H. Lengel Middle School (Pottsville) - Cardianl Systems, Inc.
Also participating in the contest from Schuylkill County were North Schuylkill, Pine Grove, and eShenandoah Valley.
