Blue Mountain School District Informs Parents of Apparent Online School Threat

Blue Mountain Superintendent Dr David Helsel sent a message to district parents Thursday about a recent online school threat.

The message read:

Hello Everyone,

We have been notified about multiple posts on the internet regarding a school shooting tomorrow.
There was a situation with a student at the high school today where a student made a comment that was interpreted as a threat of a school shooting. The comment did not specifically say that a school shooting was going to occur. This situation is being addressed. The student will not be in school tomorrow. The post on the internet says that a student named Skylar White made the threat. Skylar White is a character on the TV show Breaking Bad and not a student at BMSD. This issue is being addressed.

Rest assured we are addressing the situation to ensure the safety of our students. Our armed security officers will be on high alert as a precaution.
