One Flown After Butler Township Motorcycle Crash

A motorcycle rider was injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Butler Township.

The crash occurred just before 4:00pm on Broad Street/Route 61 between Danny's Drive In and the Ashland Mennonite Bible School.

Early reports from witnesses at the scene reported that the male rider was struck by an object, and lost control while riding uphill in the direction of Fountain Springs.  

Emergency personnel from Butler Township and Ashland responded to the scene, shut down the roadway, and transported the victim to the former Ashland Hospital Property and flown to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The victim was wearing a helmet.

Responding to the scene were the Friendship Fire Company from Englewood, Lavelle Fire Company, Washington Rescue and Ambulance from Ashland, Shenandoah Ambulance, as well as police from Butler Township, Ashland, and State Police from the Frackville Barracks.

The roadway reopened within an hour.
