Sharon Smith, 75, of Girardville passed away Friday morning May 2nd at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc, 901 Centre St, Ashland PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Betty Hafer
, 91, of Tamaqua, died on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Coaldale. 

Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Esther (Resh) Hafer. Betty attended Tamaqua High School and worked as a sewing machine operator at several garment factories in the Tamaqua area. She had a love of all animals and treasured her two parakeet birds in particular. A resident of the Majestic House, Betty enjoyed the camaraderie of the other tenants and especially enjoyed playing cards with them. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. 

Betty is survived by one sister, Doris Ney of Pottsville; two brothers, Ralph Hafer of Auburn, and Paul Hafer of Lewiston Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Wilhelmina Stauffer, and Anna Grube; and two brothers, Carl and Russell Hafer. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua with The Rev. Dillon Epler officiating. Call 10-11 AM at the funeral home. 

Interment in Schuylkill Memorial Park will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the Tamaqua Ambulance Association, 98 North Railroad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Beth Burlile, 62, of Fountain Street, Ashland, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
