
A nine-year-old child has died following a tragic incident at The Boardwalk water attraction at Hersheypark on Thursday evening.
According to a statement released by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, lifeguards at the park identified the child in distress and immediately responded with a rescue. Their efforts were followed by coordinated life-saving measures from on-site first responders and medical personnel. The child was transported without delay to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, but despite the extensive efforts by all involved, the child did not survive.
“Our hearts break for this child and the child’s family,” said John Lawn, CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. “We extend our deepest condolences for their loss. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not release any personal details at this time.”
Park officials emphasized that guest safety remains their top priority and that a thorough internal review will be conducted. They also pledged full cooperation with authorities as the investigation continues.
“As we grieve alongside our community, we ask for privacy for the family and for our team members who are deeply affected by this loss,” the statement continued. “We will provide updates as appropriate and will continue to support everyone involved.”
Lawn reassured guests that safety and well-being drive every decision made at Hersheypark. “We will thoroughly investigate this tragedy and honor the memory of this young guest by continuing our focus on ensuring the safety of our guests,” he said.
