On Tuesday, July 29, fair organizers will roll out a jam-packed schedule of activities, contests, and entertainment designed especially for young fairgoers and their families.
Sponsored by C&R Bus Tours and Tompkins Bank, “Kids Day” will officially begin when the gates open at 11 a.m. Visitors can kick off the day with a Lucky Horseshoe Craft activity at the Horse Barn, which will run all day long.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., little ones can get up close and personal with fire trucks, tractors, and more during Touch-A-Truck in the Kids Area. Starting at noon, children can take part in a variety of fun contests, held every half hour at the same location.
The midway rides, operated by Goodtime Amusements, will open at 1 p.m. At the same time, the Schuylkill Ballet Theater will take the Main Stage, showcasing local dance talent. The action keeps rolling at 1:30 p.m. with the always-popular Tractor Parade at the Main Gate.
The afternoon features even more to enjoy, including an Equine Demonstration at 3 p.m. in the Horse Barn, where fairgoers can learn about horse training and care.
From 5 to 8 p.m., visitors can check out the BAAAD Girls’ “Shelf-Ho-Shawl” demonstration on the Indoor Midway, exploring fiber arts with a fun twist. Kids can also check out the Rabbit Hopping Contest at 5 p.m. in the Rabbit Area, or pose for a Cowboy/Cowgirl Mini-Picture from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Horse Barn.
Pedal power takes center stage at 5:30 p.m. in the Kids Area with the Pedal Tractor Pull, followed by a fascinating wildlife program titled “Underdogs: The Importance of Disliked Critters” at 6 p.m. in the Wildlife Pavilion.
Then it’s time to crank up the horsepower — literally — with Atlantic Pro Pulling LLC taking over the Ag Museum Track at 7 p.m. Another Equine Demonstration will also take place at 7 p.m.
To wrap up the night, classic rock fans can head to the Main Stage for two performances by ZENITH, delivering hits from the 1960s and ’70s at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., thanks to sponsorship from Keystone Agency Partners.
