
BUTLER TOWNSHIP - A man was seriously injured in a crash overnight on Route 61 in Frackville.
The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Saturday on Route 61/Fountain Street, just west of the intersection with West Pine Street.
According to Butler Township Police, a Dodge Ram pickup truck went off the roadway, struck a sign, hit several trees, and overturned before coming to rest upright. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters from Englewood and Frackville responded and worked for approximately 30 minutes to cut the driver free.
Once extricated, Shenandoah Ambulance transported the victim to a landing zone in Fountain Springs. He was then flown by Geisinger LifeFlight to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
No further details on the man’s condition were immediately available.
Butler Township Police is investigating the crash. Route 61 from Frackville to the Fountain Springs was closed for a little more than hour until the scene was cleared.
