Minersville Police Department and 8-Year-Old Aaliyah Partner for Christmas Fundraiser

Once again, the Minersville Police Department is teaming up with a special young community member, 8-year-old Aaliyah of Minersville, to make a difference this holiday season.

Last year, Aaliyah partnered with the department to organize a food drive for a homeless shelter. Inspired by the success of that effort, she has returned this year with a new mission—supporting a local shelter that provides housing and resources for women and children escaping abuse.

Beginning Wednesday and running through December 5, the Minersville Police Department will accept donations of new or gently used women’s and children’s clothing, as well as toys, to help brighten the holiday season for families in need.

In addition to the donation drive, Aaliyah’s mother has created a GoFundMe titled “Aaliyah’s Christmas Fundraiser for Battered Women’s Shelter.” All funds raised will go directly to the shelter to provide additional support.

Once the collection period ends, Aaliyah and members of the Minersville Police Department will present the donated items and proceeds to the shelter in time for Christmas.

“Although Aaliyah is just 8 years old, she understands how important it is to help those in need and ensure they can enjoy a safe and Merry Christmas,” the Minersville Police Department shared. “She inspires us all to do better.”

Community members wishing to contribute can drop off donations at the Minersville Police Department or make a monetary contribution through the GoFundMe page.
