PennDOT Driver License, Photo Centers to Close for Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that all driver license and photo centers across the state will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend.
PennDOT facilities, including the full-service driver license center in Harrisburg, will be closed from Saturday, January 17, through Monday, January 19, 2026. Centers are scheduled to reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, January 20.

While in-person services will not be available during the holiday closure, PennDOT says customers can continue to access a wide range of driver and vehicle services online through the PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services website, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Available online services include:
  • Driver’s license, photo ID, and vehicle registration renewals
  • Driver history requests
  • Address changes
  • Restoration letters for driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations
  • Payment of driver license or vehicle insurance restoration fees
  • Requests for duplicate driver’s licenses and photo IDs
  • REAL ID pre-verification
  • Scheduling driver exams
PennDOT noted that there are no additional fees for using its online services.

Motorists who need to visit a PennDOT driver license or photo center are encouraged to plan ahead and complete any urgent business before the holiday weekend or utilize PennDOT’s online resources during the closure.
