Shenandoah Valley Upsets Schuylkill Haven in Final Seconds for First League Win


Shenandoah Valley picked up its first Schuylkill League Division 2 victory of the season in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night, edging Schuylkill Haven 54-53 in a thrilling, down-to-the-wire matchup.
Coming into the game, the Blue Devils were searching for their first league win at 0-11, while Schuylkill Haven sat second in the division with an 8-3 record. 

The teams were tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter before Schuylkill Haven gained a slight edge at halftime, leading 24-18. The Hurricanes continued to hold a narrow advantage heading into the fourth quarter, up 41-37.

Shenandoah Valley rallied in the final period and executed in the closing seconds to pull off the one-point victory, sealing a signature win for the program.

The win improves Shenandoah Valley to 3-16 overall and gives the Blue Devils momentum heading into another Schuylkill League Division game on Friday night at Nativity BVM.

Schuylkill Haven falls to 8-4 in league play and 14-6 overall. The Hurricanes will look to bounce back Friday night when they host Lourdes Regional.
