The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, along Route 443 (Clamtown Road), just west of its intersection with SR 309 (West Penn Pike) in Walker Township.
According to the report, a vehicle driven by Victoria L. Bailey, 36, of Tamaqua, was traveling east when it failed to properly negotiate a left-hand curve. The vehicle crossed into the westbound lane before returning to the eastbound lane and striking a utility pole off the roadway.
Police say Bailey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A passenger, Keith R. Bailey, 37, also of Tamaqua, sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem for treatment.
Authorities reported that the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. The vehicle, a 1990 Eagle, sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene.
Assisting at the scene were Walker Township Fire Company, Tamaqua Fire Company, Tamaqua Fire Police, West Penn Township Police, Lehighton EMS, Penn Mahoning EMS, and Tamaqua EMS.
The incident remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Frackville.
