Anne P. Shane
, 85, of McAdoo, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 13, 1941, in Tresckow, Anne was the daughter of the late James and Anne (Donahue) McHugh. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful friend whose life was rooted in love, faith, and family.

Anne shared 55 loving years of marriage with her beloved husband, Theodore “Ted” Shane, before his passing. She was preceded in death by Ted; cherished son, Theodore “Teddy” Shane; parents; brothers, James, Robert, John, Daniel, and Eugene McHugh; and sisters, Eileen Flaim and Mary Hill.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Patty DeScipio and her husband, Joseph, of Moscow and Megan Mallets and her husband, Christopher, of McAdoo. Anne was a proud and devoted grandmother to Nicholas, Olivia, and Gabriel DeScipio, who were truly the light of her life. Nothing brought “Granny Shane” greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, dear friends, and extended family members who will miss her deeply.

A lifelong and devout Catholic, Anne was an active member of All Saints Church, McAdoo, where her faith guided her throughout her life. In her younger years, she was a longtime member of the church choir. Prayer was a constant source of comfort, strength, and inspiration to her, and she carried her faith with quiet devotion each day.

Anne enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved flowers, reading, music, and a good game of bingo with her sisters, where the laughter and companionship meant just as much as the game itself. She was also known to her family as a shrewd pinochle player who rarely missed an opportunity for a competitive hand. Anne was also a football fan, and she and her late husband enjoyed watching games together for many years. Her favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs. Above all else, Anne treasured her family, always placing them at the center of her heart and life.

She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for those around her. A sweet and loving woman, Anne touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and steadfast devotion to God and family. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, May 27. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Eugene Ritz in Church of All Saints, McAdoo, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Gabriel’s R.C. Cemetery, Hazleton.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
