Leonard M. Borusky, Sr.
, 81 of Catawissa formerly of Shenandoah passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Shenandoah on October 25, 1944, he was a son of the late Leonard E. and Mary (Olexa) Borusky.

He was a 1962 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Mr. Borusky was a decorated Vietnam Veteran having served his country in the Navy from 1965 until 1967. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medical with Device.

On August 2, 1975 in Elkton, Maryland, he married the former Mary Ann J. Treskolasky who survives.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

Len was a talented musician and played the guitar in several bands including Chubby and the Royals and The Bossmen. He had a passion for drinking coffee and was an avid reader. Len was a kind and generous person. Above all else, his family was of most importance to him especially his grandson, Bodhi, who in recent years was the truly light of his life.

Surviving in addition to his loving and devoted wife of over fifty years, Mary Ann J. “Mare” Borusky are his son, Leonard M. Borusky Jr. and his wife Julie of Plymouth, Massachusetts; his daughter, Janell Borusky of Shenandoah Heights; his cherished grandson, Bodhi Garvey; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Religious services with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah with Rev. Jack Murray officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals.

Robert D. (Bob/Tank/Bookie) Martz
, 79, of Orwigsburg, passed away Sunday, May 10th, at his residence with his wife Ellie and his faithful dog Abile by his side. Bob was born in Pottsville on February 23, 1947, a son of the late Bettie Mae (Lloyd ) and Serjin U. Martz of Schuylkill Haven.
He was the husband of Ellen "Ellie" J. (Hubler) Martz .They were married on March 29th, 1986.
He is also survived by a sister Bonnie Guarino and her husband Richard of Hamburg and his godchildren Alexis Seiders and Malia Sterner.

Bob was a Schuylkill Haven High School Graduate, class of 1965 and he served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Bob was also a member of the Robert E. Baker Post # 138 of the American Legion, Schuylkill Haven. He was also a member of Landingville Fire Company and Deer Lake & West Brunswick Fire Company.

He retired from Bright Berger & Sons, Orwigsburg, and previously worked for the Schuykill Haven Trust Company and Union Bank.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be forwarded to Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home, 116 S. Liberty Streeet, Orwigsburg, PA 17961, made payable to Ellen Martz. She will then forward to rescues closest to Bob's heart.

Bob requested that services be private at the convenience of the family.

Joan Ardele Paparazo, 93, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday, April 28th, at The Gardens York Terrace Nursing Home, Pottsville.

Joan was born in Cressona on September 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Margaret (Bubeck) & Jack Douglas.

She was the widow of Louis Paparazo, who died in March 2012.

She previously attended Grace Brethren Church, Tremont.

She was a graduate of Cressona High School, class of 1950 and was formerly employed by Bell Telephone as an operator.

Joan has three children; Todd Paparazo, Orwigsburg; Jane (deceased) and Jill Fanelli, wife of attorney Frederick Fanelli, Naples, Florida. She also has two grandchildren; Jack Fanelli, Philadelphia, PA, and Maria Fanelli, Miami, Florida.

Services and interment are private and the family's convenience.

Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, has been entrusted with arrangements.

Christopher Joseph Serina, Sr.
67 years of age of Minersville passed away peacefully on Saturday May 8, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Norwegian Campus in Pottsville.

Born in Coaldale the son of the late Joseph John and Rose Marie (Piazza) Serina.

Chris attended Panther Valley High School and worked in the construction field for many years. A strong work ethic, Chris loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed mushroom picking. More than anything, Chris cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his daughter, grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Chris is survived by; son, Christopher Joseph Serina Jr.; daughter, Nicole Leary; grandchildren, Michael Leary, Haley Eberts, Alyssa Leary and Dylan Leary; great granddaughter, Ariella Eberts; great grandson, Rowan Eberts, and was anxiously anticipating the arrival of his third great grandson in September.

Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Helen Elizabeth (McKeon) Higgins, 96, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Pottsville, died peacefully March 30th at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph C. Higgins, Jr., in 2006,

She was born December 16, 1929, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Eugene (Donne) McKeon.

She was a 1947 graduate of the former Pottsville Catholic High School.

Prior to retiring Helen worked in the medical records department of the former Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.

Helen was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, prior to moving to Fort Myers, where she attended St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church.

Helen was a past member of the Hideaway 9 Holers in Fort Myers. In addition to golf, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening and dining with friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers Michael and Joseph McKeon and a sister, Betty Jean Thornburg.

Surviving are 3 sons, J.C. Higgins and his wife Cathleen, Patrick and Robert Higgins, all of Fort Myers, FL; a daughter, Mary Harron, and her husband Robert, Shoemakersville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brothers Donald McKeon and his wife Pat; David McKeon and his wife Chris; sisters, Bernadette Zulick and her husband Michael; Kathleen Leavitt and her husband John; Molly Fanelli; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM June 8th at Our Lady of Calvary Chapel at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Helen be made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, James B. Humphrey, F.D., Pottsville.

Michael A. Bernotas, 67, of Green Mountain Road, Ringtown, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident on Saturday, May 9th, 2026.

Michael was born in Shenandoah on March 16, 1959, a son of Bernice (Beenick) Bernotas and the late Ralph Bernotas. He was a 1977 graduate of the West Hazleton High School, and then served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Sheppton American Legion.

He worked for the Boilermaker Union, Local 13 of Philadelphia until his retirement. Michael was a man who was always willing to help anyone, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He had a passion for his horses and enjoyed reading and writing poetry, as well as riding his motorcycles.

In addition to his mother Bernice, he is survived by three daughters, Michelene Bernotas, Victoria Bernotas and Jessica Bernotas.

He is also survived by his siblings, Ralph Bernotas Jr., Susan Morgan, Frank Bernotas, Diane Rumbel and Barbara Glasbrenner, along with nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Michael's life by attending a visitation at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown from 5-7 PM Sunday evening, May 17th, 2026.

Michael will be laid to rest during private family services.

Kathleen "Kitty" Klinger, 81, of Valley View, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 10, 2026 at her home.

Born in Pottsville on Thursday, March 29, 1945, a daughter of the late Harry and Winifred Mars.

Kitty was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.

Kitty enjoyed the simple things in life. Her happiest times were spent camping in Tioga County. She never met a cat that she did not love, always making sure the strays were fed and taking care of.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Klinger; two sons, Bryant Klinger, 2019, and Wesley Klinger, 2024; a brother, Glenn Mars; sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Rehrer and Joan Jordan.

Surviving are her son, Eric Klinger, Hegins; her companion of 26 years, Bruce Klinger; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View with Pastor Suzanne Elliot officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dimon Funeral Home, 644 E Grand Avenue, Tower City, PA 17980, to help with expenses.
