Schuylkill County Communities to Celebrate National Night Out with Family-Friendly Events Across the Region


Police departments, fire companies, emergency responders, and community organizations throughout Schuylkill County are inviting residents to come together for National Night Out celebrations during the first two weeks of August.

The annual event, held nationwide, is designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting crime prevention, neighborhood partnerships, and public safety awareness. Many local events will feature emergency vehicle displays, activities for children, food, games, and opportunities for residents to meet first responders in a relaxed setting.

This year's celebrations include events in Tamaqua, Pottsville, Shenandoah, Girardville, Orwigsburg, and Ashland.

Tamaqua


The Tamaqua Police Department will host its National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area High School parking lot.

The event will include:

  • Police meet-and-greet
  • Touch-a-Truck displays
  • Crime prevention information
  • Refreshments

The evening offers residents an opportunity to interact with local officers and learn more about public safety initiatives while enjoying a family-friendly atmosphere.

Pottsville


The Pottsville Bureau of Police and the City of Pottsville Bureau of Fire will jointly host National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, at JFK Pool.

While organizers say additional details will be released closer to the event, families can expect an evening focused on bringing the community together alongside local police officers and firefighters.


Shenandoah




Residents are invited to the Shenandoah National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. behind 229 North Main Street.

Hosted by the Shenandoah Police Department, Shenandoah Fire Department, and Shenandoah EMS, the event will feature:

  • Emergency vehicle displays
  • Meet-and-greet with first responders
  • Community resource information
  • Free child car seat checks and demonstrations provided by the Shenandoah Police Department

The event is designed to connect residents with the emergency services that serve the borough while providing valuable safety information.

Girardville

Rangers Hose Company will host a National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at its station located at 6 East Ogden Street, Girardville.

Organizers promise activities for the entire family as the community comes together for an evening celebrating neighborhood partnerships and public safety.

Orwigsburg



National Night Out returns to Orwigsburg on Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the M&T Bank parking lot.

The event will feature:

  • Free hot dogs
  • Free snow cones
  • Bounce house
  • Games
  • Law enforcement agencies displaying emergency vehicles and specialized equipment

The gathering provides families with a chance to meet officers from multiple agencies while enjoying free activities and refreshments.

Cressona

Cressona will hold a Community Night on Thursday, August 6th, 2026 at the Goodwill Hose Company from 5pm to 8pm.

There will be vendors, food trucks, and fun for everyone.

Ashland Community Night


While not officially part of National Night Out, the annual Ashland Community Night will continue the spirit of community engagement on Tuesday, August 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Field.

The event traditionally brings together police, firefighters, EMS personnel, local organizations, and residents for an evening of family fun featuring emergency vehicles, activities for children, and opportunities to meet those who serve the community.
