The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Wednesday that Craig Hardy, 66, of Ashland, was indicted for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender as required under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
According to U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller, the indictment alleges that Hardy relocated to New York and, beginning on or about November 3, 2025, through the present, failed to register his new address as required by federal law despite being legally obligated to do so under SORNA.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Marshals Service and the Pennsylvania State Police. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tatum R. Wilson.
If convicted, Hardy faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison, followed by a term of supervised release and a possible fine.
Federal prosecutors noted that any sentence imposed will be determined by a judge after considering the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
As with all criminal cases, the indictment is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
