The Lehigh County Coroner's Office said it was notified at approximately 3:35 p.m. to respond to the scene of a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a tanker truck.
According to Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, the driver of the tanker truck, a 52-year-old Tamaqua resident, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:10 p.m. No other fatalities were reported as a result of the crash.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, August 10, to help determine the cause and manner of death.
Although the victim has been positively identified, the Coroner's Office said the man's name is being withheld while family notifications continue. Officials said the decision was made out of respect for the family and to allow them time to grieve before the identity is released.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office, and the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office are investigating the crash.
